The client had a very old traditional church building, in the heart of Birmingham which did not comply with the new DDA regulations and furthermore could not support many of their community projects.

PHA was brought on board and proposed to design a major new build 1,000 seating community church complex in keeping with the look and the materials of the former building as this was a major requirement of the local authority’s conservation officer.

The final design upheld all the expectations of the client, the community and local authority and has been a major catalyst for regeneration in the local area.

Upon completion the project was featured on television covered by the BBC and Central ITV news networks; over regional and national radio programmes as well as highlighted in several local, regional and national newspapers.
