Faced with a very old, traditional Victorian church building; PHA were commissioned to redesign the space in order to come up with a more modern and restyled approach as well as increase the capacity for the client body.
This was achieved by designing a new build balcony and the space/seating was further enhanced with brighter, more up to date materials and treatments for that time.
The balcony (in particular), utilised the novel use of glass, steel, brushed aluminium and two grades of solid oak (complete with galvanised external stairs for emergency exits from the balcony) all of which aided to transform the function and aesthetics of the space.
